It grows best in sun-drenched warm climates, particularly near the coast where it benefits from cool nights, high sunshine, and salty sea breezes. It thrives in well-drained, infertile soils like sandy-loam, rocky granite, and limestone.

Mourvedre is a meaty and full bodied red wine that can be high in alcohol and tannins. It can be a difficult variety to grow as it needs very warm weather and adequate irrigation. It thrives on well-drained, rocky or clay-limestone soils and is susceptible to mildews and low winter temperatures.

Gewurztraminer is an aromatic wine grape variety that performs best in cooler climates as it is an early budding and early ripening variety. It has high natural sugar and low acidity content. It is medium to full bodies giving it a rich texture.

Sangiovese is an Italian grape variety. It is dry, medium bodied grape with high tannin and acidity. It typically has red fruit flavors of cherry, plum, and blackberry.

Gruner Veltliner is a white wine grape variety that ripens mid to late October. The vine can be very fruitful and high yielding, and produce small yellowish-green berries.

Flame Seedless is a late season, seedless variety that can be used for eating fresh or dried to make larger raisins.

Rootstock ONLY is just what is says; "rootstock only." There is no grape variety grafted to it. Use this option if you want to do your own grafting in the field. This is a great option for shade arbors also. Rootstock varieties produce little or no fruit. But, they look just like a fruiting variety without the maintenance and care that comes with producing fruit. Rootstock varieties are also Pierece's disease resistant.

Autumn Royal is a purple/black seedless table grape. Grown naturally, it has one of the largest berries of any seedless black variety.

Vine shelters are used to protect your newly planted vines from drying out, extreme temperatures, and critters such as rabbits. They are a wax coated paper product similar to a milk carton. They are 30 inches tall and have holes along the side so you can attach them to the stake. The top is designed to fold closed and then be re-opened when the vine reaches the top.

Zinfandel is an American grape variety that performs differently in the field, but is genetically the same as Primitivo. It can be used to make red and white (rose) wine. Zinfandel is not as winter cold hardy as other varieties but can be planted where temperatures stay above 15 degrees F. It is a high producing variety that makes fruity wines that can be consumed at a young age.

The most popular white Rhone variety, Viognier is often compared with Chardonnay despite its more aromatic, perfume qualities and smaller production. The clusters are much smaller than Chardonnay, but are just as susceptible to mildews and rot. It is a cold tolerant variety, but requires a full growing season to achieve optimum ripeness. It is sometimes co-fermented with Syrah.

A red grape variety that is largely planted in Spain. This variety is early ripening and thrives in warm climates. It yields large clusters and the yields are productive. The wine tends to be full bodied with a dark ruby color. On the palate you will taste light red fruits and baking spices.
